Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Flight Test Project Engineer to support engineering test and evaluation activities. In this role, you will lead and coordinate the efforts of flight test engineers and instrumentation teams to execute comprehensive flight test programs. You will oversee key aspects of flight test projects, contribute to the design and development of aircraft and aircraft systems, and ensure all testing aligns with regulatory requirements and product specifications.
Primary Duties:
Primary responsibility of this position is Instrumentation Engineering, which includes following:
- Develop and implementation of aircraft instrumentation, data recording, telemetry, and data analysis hardware and software.
- Oversee flight test equipment inventory and instrument calibrations.
- Gather, analyze, and report on ground and flight test data.
Auxiliary Duties:
Secondary responsibility is to provide backup support to flight test engineers for developmental and certification efforts, which include the following:
- Participate in all aspects of engineering test and evaluation activities.
- Prepare Test Plans and Test Cards.
- Conduct daily brief of aircraft configuration, weight and balance, status, and limitations.
- Perform Flight Test Engineer duties during flight in experimental aircraft.
- Perform Flight Test Director duties during test flights.
- Evaluate compliance with federal regulations, design requirements and objectives.
- Communicate test results to engineering personnel, corporate officers, contractor, and FAA personnel.
- Recommend changes to aircraft and aircraft systems to meet design and regulatory requirements, design objectives, and customer needs and safety.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering related discipline; preferably in Electrical or Systems Engineering Discipline for Instrumentation Engineer.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
- Experience with data digital data acquisition hardware and software.
- Good communication, computer, leadership, organizational and multitasking skills.
Certificate or Licensures:
This position does not require pilot certification, but the following are preferred for all flight test engineering staff:
- FAA Private Pilot, Single Engine Land.
