Summary:
Integrate quality assurance into all phases of manufacturing and assembly, ensuring compliance with engineering specs and regulatory standards.
Lead MRB (Material Review Board) activities: disposition nonconforming materials, coordinate rework plans, and drive timely resolutions.
Conduct hands-on quality surveillance on the shop floor, supporting real-time inspection and process verification.
Perform Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis using 8D, 5 Whys, DMAIC methodologies.
Drive reduction of scrap, rework, and repair (SRR) costs through process improvements and quality controls.
Facilitate Corrective Action Board (CAB) reviews and implement CAPA across manufacturing and supply chain.
Develop/refine MES (Manufacturing Execution System) workflows to track nonconformances and corrective actions.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers on PFMEAs and Control Plans aligned with aerospace standards.
Lead First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102, ensuring process qualification and repeatability.
Partner with production teams to improve standard work instructions, documentation, and operator training.
Provide expertise in composite fabrication, assembly integration, and aerospace hardware inspection.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
MUST HAVE AVIATION / AIRCRAFT / AEROSPACE BACKGROUND
5+ years in aerospace manufacturing quality engineering
Experience with composites, bonded assemblies, or metallic fabrication
Skilled in FAI, PFMEA, and process capability analysis
Strong experience with MRB processing, including nonconformance documentation and RCCA
Proven support of production floor quality activities: inspections, audits, compliance
Proficient in reading engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
Expertise in RCCA methods: 8D, CAPA, DMAIC
Familiar with MES and QMS in a production setting
Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA requirements
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
Desired Skills:
Experience with CMM, laser scanning, or NDT (non-destructive testing)
Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing experience
ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, or equivalent)
