The Integrated Solutions, Modeling, and Architecture (ISMA) directorate assesses, develops, and evaluates solution architectures for our customers’ largest, most complex challenges across all the operational domains. In the Operations and Mission Analysis Department you’ll be part of a special team that analyzes the world’s most challenging threats and helps define new capabilities to counter them, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and leading the industry in operational modeling and simulation using our purpose-built software.
Raytheon’s Operations and Mission Analysis Department is currently hiring a Principal Simulation Analysis Engineer for its Airborne Kill Chain AI/ML team. In this role, you will be joining a team of engineers working with high-fidelity missile simulations to construct decision support systems used by the warfighter.
This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
- You will support/lead the design, development, and/or utilization of high-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments.
- You will support/lead trade studies to assess system performance of weapons against a variety of threats in a variety of kill chain scenarios.
- You will contribute your knowledge of performance engineering practices, and procedures, to evaluate work across a wide range of intriguing computational problems to answer questions such as: what should be the next system improvement; or what is the effectivity of the missile against a single or multiple threats; or what counter measures should be considered to increase effectivity and/or survivability and other operational performance related questions.
- You will contribute and collaborate in a team environment, receiving inputs from the program, external customers, or team experts, and work on varied projects, as you determine, develop, and implement analytic approaches that will generate the supporting data to inform programmatic decisions.
- You will participate/lead in the development and implementation of model-based solutions to power decision support systems, and participate in validation and testing models, software components and/or integrated systems.
- You will be expected to support minimal travel (a few trips a year)
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 5 years experience
- Experience scripting/programming in MATLAB and/or Python
- Experience in at least three of the following areas:
- Simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems
- Systems engineering life-cycle model
- Probability and statistics
- Software development processes and/or object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) or Surrogate Modeling
- Computation on high-performance computing (HPC) grids/clusters
- Professional experience leading a project team
- Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced Degree in STEM
- DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Prior experience in or with military, or substantive domain knowledge of tools and tactics of warfare
- Producing PowerPoint slides, documentation, or publications.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, teaming and leadership skills.

Location: Tucson, AZ
The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
