We are hiring for a Material Controller to join our onsite Dowty team in Brockworth, Glos, for an 18mth fixed term contract. The objective of the Material Controller is to maintain uninterrupted flow of work through our shop in order to meet the production plan which contributes to improved turnaround times and customer on time delivery. You will be required to facilitate resolution to any material issues which would prevent the plan being met and problem solve with different departments (Operation / Materials / Customer Operations). Essential Responsibilities
Attend daily Materials Fulfilment meeting to review material position, kitting priority & raise any concerns that require escalation.
Creation of Work Orders for sub-components of assets received into the facility.
Optimize production flow through our machine shop, paint shop, hand salvage, treatment cell and to and from sub con. Progress any documentation required for materials.
Work closely with Production Controllers to understand kitting priorities in line with standard work in progress (SWIP).
Marshalling of material between cells, and transfer of material between OE and R&O organizations.
Material kitting & presentation to the shop floor in line with production plan.
Checking for any material shortages before booking assets to stock.
Maintaining accuracy and validation of stock in our ERP system and other manual trackers and maintain traceability records for manufactured parts.
Effectively control/maintain/implement Kanban/pull systems.
Responsible for identifying process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, reduce manufacturing losses and develop world class material presentation.
Application of problem-solving skills & can work with cross function teams.
Be able to be flexible across multiple product lines and other materials departments such as stores and dispatch depending on team workload, holidays, or illness.
Qualifications/ Skill Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Knowledge and experience of Oracle ERP or another ERP system
Attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
Problem solving skills
Able to work as part of a team
Prior experience in material control preferable
