STS Technical Services is hiring Material Handlers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals with a background in mechanical and pneumatic tools, shipping and receiving, and general warehouse operations. Join a growing team that values precision, teamwork, and safety.
Position Summary:
As a Material Handler, you will support the fabrication and assembly of Ultra products by preparing raw materials, building shipping skids, and operating forklifts. You will also contribute to a safe and efficient work environment by following inventory procedures and supporting general shop operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and build skids for outgoing shipments
- Support shipping and receiving functions
- Use power tools including drills, saws, and routers
- Mark dimensions and prepare materials for assembly
- Maintain appropriate stock of common parts and hardware
- Inspect and measure parts for quality control
- Follow shop math principles to ensure fabrication accuracy
- Support teamwork across departments and share ideas for process improvement
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace at all times
- Wear appropriate PPE and report safety concerns
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer knowledge and mechanical aptitude
- Proficient in reading blueprints and engineered drawings
- Skilled in using tape measures, calipers, wrenches, and hand tools
- Familiarity with safety practices and PPE usage
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Shipping and receiving experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds with assistance
- Visual ability for close, distance, and peripheral focus
- Comfortable working in a loud, non-climate-controlled environment
Work Environment:
- Exposure to power tools, fumes, and chemicals
- Moderate responsibility for materials and equipment
- Emphasis on safety to protect self and coworkers
