Our client is seeking a General Mechanic (Associate) to join our C-17 team in San Antonio, TX. This position involves maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components.
- Maintain and repair aircraft components, flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Utilize airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
- Interpret technical documentation, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals.
- Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
- Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure.
- Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair.
- Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.
- Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35lbs.
- Ensure the working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems applications.
- Assist team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electrics) to ensure cost/schedule targets are met.
Essential Skills- 4+ years of experience in maintenance, repair, and modification of aircraft structures and components.
- Experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand tools.
- Experience working on various aircraft exterior and interior systems including hydraulic, flight control, monuments, landing gears, fuel systems, and engines.
- Experience working in aircraft repair, modification, and tooling operations and processes.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to pass an assessment at the end of the training cycle.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with C-17 aircraft.
- Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance.
- Ability to operate a forklift and riding type electric powered elevating equipment.
- Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g., High School diploma/GED) and typically 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., vocational school/Associate).

Work Environment
This position is expected to be 100 onsite at the San Antonio, TX location. Candidates must be able to work variable shifts based on business needs, including 1st and 2nd shifts. The work environment includes working in confined spaces and lifting loads of approximately 35lbs. Successful completion of on-the-job training or formal classroom training is required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.17 - $40.17/hr.
