Job Description:


Purpose 

Assist the Facilities and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Manager with inspection, maintenance and upkeep of the facility and equipment. 

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Operate, maintain, repair, and determine repair and maintenance requirements of ground support equipment, vehicles, and aviation support equipment, including heavy equipment, diesel- and gas-powered equipment, aircraft power units, forklifts, and cranes. 
  • Perform equipment repair including portable powered equipment, tractors, aircraft power units, tugs, forklifts, cranes, and other aircraft ground support equipment. Perform inspection of equipment following contractor or vendor repair to insure proper operating conditions before release to users. 
  • Perform periodic and annual inspections and maintenance of equipment, assists other mechanics in diagnosing and troubleshooting of equipment. 
  • Performs various facilities maintenance duties including preventive maintenance on systems and equipment. May perform routine inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary. 
  • Performs basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, plumbing, plastic or sheet metal fabrication, or associated work on plant facilities using power tools. 
  • Light janitorial duties expected. 
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Facilities and GSE Manager.

 

Qualifications 

REQUIRED 
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). 
  • At least two (2) years related experience maintaining aviation GSE, tooling and vehicles. 

 

PREFERRED 
  • Prior experience and/or certification in maintaining industrial HVAC, Waste Treatment, and Electrical / Mechanical equipment.

  • Knowledge of appropriate steps to analytical problem solving. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

  • Ability to maintain logs of all items disbursed throughout each day. 
  Working Conditions 

The work is performed in an office environment, aircraft hangar, at the departure gate or on the aircraft parking ramp. This position is considered INDUSTRIAL WORK which is characterized as follows. 

  • Requires frequent walking, standing and/or climbing. 
  • Are expected to work through specially designed airframe, engine and undercarriage openings while standing on ladders or scaffolds; to use hoists and lifts; required precision instruments and other necessary tools. 
  • Exposure to climate changes normally experienced in an aviation repair facility.
