SUMMARY 

The Weapons & Armament Technician is responsible for maintaining weapons, weapons systems, configuration of the APKWS ammunition, and restoring aircraft weapons systems to operational status IAW OEM procedures. Additionally, provide mentorship and training to military customers on armament and weapons.  Responsible for armament checklist procedures and safety related to armament systems. Responsible for developing an armament training POI and armament maintenance training POIs. Accountable for integrating with armament and weapons suppliers. Reports to the Site Director of Aviation & Maintenance. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Plan, implement, and coordinate armament systems & programs in accordance with written regulations, procedures, and policies.  
  • Oversee the coordination of all armament resources. 
  • Maintain proficiency as armament instructor IAW company tactical standards (Advanced Tactics, NVGs & Gunnery Qualifications). 
  • Oversee all armament aspects of gunnery and associated Forward Arming & Refueling Points (FARP) operations. 
  • Thorough knowledge of all aircraft weapons, weapons systems, and effects of munitions on weapon performance.  
  • Technical writer for training POIs and training standards to ensure ITAR compliance of all armament and maintenance training, as well as training manuals. 
  • Maintain aircraft armament/missile systems and components. 
  • Perform operational checks, ammunition loading/unloading, and weapon subsystems configuration changes for fire control systems. 
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair test sets and diagnostic equipment. 
  • Order repair parts as required 
  • Prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, repair, and related activities.  
  • Up to 90 travel may be required. Travel may include domestic and/or international locations such as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Jordan. 
  • The individual may be required to travel within the above-listed countries or other international sites and perform work-related duties in extreme environments and austere living conditions. 
  • Be available for assignment to OCONUS sites for extended deployment periods. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

Skills and abilities 

  • The technician shall be trained on the HMP 400 weapons system and possess a minimum of four (4) years of experience maintaining .50 caliber weapons systems and Hydra 70 2.75-inch rocket systems, as well as experience operating and maintaining variant Weapons Management Systems.  
  • Must possess the ability to work independently, without guidance, to perform tasks included in the MDH aircraft maintenance manual.   
  • Must have sufficient educational and experience background to perform the duties involving maintenance, assembly, operation, repair, test and related functions of the MDH aircraft.   
  • Must have the capability to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel and express thoughts in both oral and written communication. 
  • The ability to get along with others and work in a team environment. 
  • Access to Export Control Information. 
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English 
  • Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

  • Military and/or Law Enforcement or equivalent civilian weapons Armorer school preferred 
  • Tactically proficient in basic military tactical arming skills & capable of coordinating Forward Arming & Refueling Points (FARP) requirements. 
  •  Factory certified on a continual basis, as required, on all weapons for which they are responsible. 
  • Ability to take and follow direction with minimum supervision. 
  • Excellent communication and team skills. 
  • Fluent in the English language. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
