Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Technical Operations Reliability team ensures United operates safely and dependably by analyzing aircraft defects and operational disruptions. The team monitors trends to notify maintenance and engineering teams of emerging issues and probable corrective actions.

We are a seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Manager to lead our India based Reliability Engineering team, responsible for identifying and communicating root causes of critical aircraft issues through reporting and analysis. They will manage reliability and fleet performance initiatives, providing accurate, timely insights to support data-driven decisions across multiple divisions. The role encompasses strategic and tactical responsibilities, as well as managing the day-to-day identification of recurring aircraft system failures.

  • Manage a team of 8-10 engineers, focusing on Uniteds Boeing or Airbus fleets or strategic areas such as aircraft interior cabins.
  • Identify and highlight key fleet trend insights to leadership, ensuring they are informed of emerging trends and opportunities for proactive intervention.
  • Analyze Uniteds on-time and completion factor performance from technical (aircraft defects, maintenance programs, etc.) and operational perspectives (out of service processes, aircraft swap options, schedule compression, etc.).
  • Ensure engineers provide accurate and high-quality aircraft performance data, supporting the integrity of reliability analysis across United’s operations.
  • Hold the team accountable for delivering consistently high-quality work that meets both internal and regulatory standards.
  • Coach and mentor engineers, fostering their professional development and continuously improving their technical capabilities and analysis skills, ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives.
  • Own and identify opportunities to improve internal processes, ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness. Develop new processes for emerging initiatives to support future growth and operational demands.

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, or a related STEM disciplines.
  • Prior experience managing large teams, with a proven track record of leadership and team development.
  • Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Extensive experience in aircraft reliability, performance analysis, or a related technical field withing the aviation maintenance industry.
  • In-depth understanding of aircraft systems, ATA codes, maintenance programs and reliability metrics.
  • Proven ability to identify process improvements, implement automation, and streamline workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards, including FAA requirements and industry best practices.
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
Preferred
  • Masters degree and/ or MBA
  • Lean and Six Sigma certification or experience with process improvement methodologies
  • Experience with KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), with the ability to develop, track, and analyze relevant KPIs to measure and improve both individual and team performance, as well as operational effectiveness.
  • Advanced data analytics skills, including experience with statistical analysis software and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Understanding of machine learning principles and their application to reliability and predictive analytics
  • Experience in Palantir Foundry, including Contour analysis and dashboarding
  • FAA A&P License/ DGCA issued equivalent
