The Analyst will be part of a cybersecurity team that provides enterprise-wide support including Blue Team - aligned assessment activities and site visits, cybersecurity assistance reviews, and risk posture analysis.
The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, coordination, and the facilitation of security - related information - not hands - on system administration or tool operation.
Responsibilities
- Support the execution of cybersecurity staff assistance visits (SAVs) to various DoD program sites to assess information assurance posture, coordinate support activities, and provide tailored compliance guidance.
- Assist in the review of technical cybersecurity documentation and artifacts including scan summaries, system security plans, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical inputs, analyze system or enterprise-level cybersecurity needs, and facilitate coordination across security and business domains.
- Support the coordination and management of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), including tracking remediation efforts, validating timelines, and maintaining accountability with responsible parties.
- Prepare and maintain security documentation, summary reports, meeting notes, and recommendations in support of senior leadership decision-making.
- Facilitate alignment between enterprise security objectives and program-level implementation by interpreting policy, standards, and best practices into actionable business and technical guidance.
- Review vulnerability scan outputs and coordinate with system owners or technical teams to support risk mitigation tracking - not to conduct scanning directly.
- Participate in cybersecurity readiness assessments and planning activities, supporting audit preparation, accreditation, and verification events as needed.
- Assist in the development of briefings, white papers, and communications for cybersecurity governance and senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity strategy leads to support the implementation of frameworks and initiatives that strengthen the organization’s security posture.
Qualifications
- Clearance: Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Business Analysis, or related discipline; additional 4 years of experience can be substituted for a bachelors degree.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in IT, Cybersecurity, or Information Assurance roles supporting federal programs.
- Certification: Candidates must possess at least one of the following certifications, which are approved under both DoD 8140 (WRC 612) and DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III requirements:
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA CySA+
- CompTIA CASP+
- (ISC)² CISSP
- GIAC GSEC
- Experience coordinating cybersecurity compliance efforts within RMF or NIST SP 800-53 frameworks.
- Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Experience tracking security issues, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and supporting compliance remediation workflows.
- Familiarity with staff assistance visits, system assessments, or similar DoD cybersecurity support efforts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and administrative functions.
- Travel: Up to 25 percent.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Special Access Programs (SAP) or other compartmented environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise cybersecurity metrics, compliance dashboards, or POA&M tracking tools.
- Knowledge of DoD IT and cybersecurity policies, enterprise governance structures, and strategic planning processes.
- Exposure to ITIL-based service delivery and cybersecurity governance in multi-platform environments.
- Experience building briefing packages or communications for Authorizing Officials, CIOs, or senior-level cybersecurity decision makers.
- The following certifications (desire the candidate to have one or more) are not required, but are preferred as they align with DoD 8140 qualification standards for Security Control Assessors:

- Certified Authorization Professional (CAP / CGRC)
