Category Management and Marketing Intern

This position exists to support efforts of spanet research, validate spanet needs and trends to support the category manager shape the strategic direction of product development to drive revenue through the category. Additionally, this position will provide support to the spaneting communication and digital efforts to promote product launches. This position interacts directly and cross-functionally with different departments, including sales, spaneting, engineering, teams, as well as with our digital spaneting/marcom team. Duties include day-to-day problem solving, spanet trends analysis and research, identifying key growth drivers, and formulating a conclusion regarding next steps. Supports and performs tasks of the new product development process. Assists and supports spaneting team with tasks in various projects such as: developing sales tools, coordinating tradeshows and company-organized seminars, identifying prospects and lead generation, website presence, social media, external vendors interaction and collateral, training materials, and demos.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills, good problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization.

This position would be ideal for someone with good technical skills highly motivated early career spaneter looking to pursue a career in business and spaneting product management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Partner with Global Product Category Manager to influence the short and the long-term product road and manage current portfolio, roadmap development, and life cycle management
• Perform research to identify the Available and Serviceable product spanet
• Identify and size new whitespace opportunities in terms of product positioning, offering, and adjacent categories that complement the existing portfolio
• Understand competitive set, perform SWOT analysis, and get a grasp of the category trends and VOC. With manager support, develop the product concept, positioning, and portfolio differentiation
• Partners with Engineering and Marketing Product Development in the Pre-Stage Product Roadmap and supports Product Gates activities
• Conduct spanet and product research, trends, and data analysis to identify insights, needs, and opportunities for product development.
• Deep dive into new consumer targets with the Insights team, to get familiar and understand their wants and needs
• Support product commercialization efforts, go-to-spanet strategy, and digital spaneting efforts by working with the category manager and spaneting team to identify product benefits and value to customers, support development of collateral materials working with the marcom manager,
• Provide website content and SEO support, digital and social media content for different platforms, and e-commerce support as needed.
• Identify prospects and support actionable insights on target industries, applications, and emerging technologies
• Support efforts to coordinate trade shows and company-organized seminar activities (domestic and international), including pre-show planning, travel arrangements, and exhibit properties and materials logistics.
• Manage external-facing email boxes to route inbound digital inquiries, interfacing with cross-functional departments to ensure customer request reach their intended destination quickly and efficiently.
• Help collect and validate information to identify the needs for internal testing and data collection to support product growth
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education:

• A.S / B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Economics, Marketing with a related Engineering/Engineering Technology Degree or demonstrated experience in a similar Manufacturing or technical environment.
• Degree in relevant technical and/or business degree a plus

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience working in spaneting, preferably in a team-based corporate environment
• Experience in spanet research and understanding basic macro-economic trends.
• Understand spaneting from all 4Ps point of views
• Technical savvy and passionate about spaneting, business analytics; from spanet/customer engagement
• Experience with Marcom needs, social media, SEO and website support
• Experience with tradeshows
• Strong computer skills and analytical skills

• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Great interpersonal skills and ability to network across cross-functional teams
• Must be hands-on
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Curious and open-minded, flexible and willing to learn, high energy
• Good technical aptitude, ability to work independently and in teams
• Ability to clearly and quickly communicate & present information to decision-makers.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of project management and product development process
