Position Summary
- The essential duties include:
- The incumbent plans, organizes, and oversees the Metal prep operations to provide quality sprayed products, assuring optimum utilization of material and manpower resources in the achievement of facility objectives.
- Technically capable of assisting Production Supervisor with cost reduction improvements, improved manufacturing procedures and the new technology in the Bowling Green facility. Will assist in the initial and on-going training of new employees.
- The incumbent is responsible for the continuous improvement of manufacturing operations and the quality programs at the plant level in support of Division strategy and in response to the competitive environment in the spanetplace.
- The incumbent is responsible to support the direct interaction between internal customers and production activities and for interaction with Manufacturing and Engineering to assure on time product and conformance to requirements at minimum cost to the Division.
- Compliance with all safety and environmental regulations is also essential.
- The incumbent will assist the production Supervisor in the monitoring of processes, procedures, set-ups, control points and production of quality parts to pre-determined schedule in support of Division’s goals. To meet these schedules, the incumbent is required, when necessary to coordinate direction and priorities for schedule changes and equipment utilization and to control equipment, processes and product deviations.
- The incumbent will plan, coordinate and complete assigned manufacturing improvement projects in a timely and effective manner and assist in the movement to a High-Performance work environment.

Responsibilities

- Assign/schedule work to production teams.
- Coordinate product flow through all departments.
- Assist team members operating equipment, performing set-ups and trouble shooting.
- Coordinate rework efforts.
- Day-to-day department activities.
- Schedule vacations and overtime.
- Assist in activities in support of cost reduction initiatives.
- Coordinate the cross training of team members for optimal flexibility and B3 advancement.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Responsible to assist Supervisor in holding team members accountable for job performance.
- Interview and assist in the selection of new team members.

Qualifications
Competencies Required Required - Current performance rating of satisfactory in current position in all areas.
- Above average attendance record.
- Experience as team leader or fill-in team leader on a production team.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and provide feedback using the Situational Leadership (SLII) model
- Demonstrated ability to provide team member feedback for performance evaluations and establish the SLII developmental levels for all team members.
- Develop a level of competency in all areas of Metal Prep.
Preferred - Certified in at least one other area within Metal Prep such as Chem-line, Churn Room.
- Active in team continuous improvement projects.
Work Experience Required - Two years of Metal Prep experience.
- Six months team leader experience
Preferred Education Required Preferred - Commitment to excel through self-improvement (i.e. college or technical education).
Certifications Required Preferred Languages Required - Ability to read, write, and speak English.
