Primary Function:
Under limited supervision, performs all required duties to ship and receive a wide variety of products, parts, and other materials following the established methods and procedures, and maintain all related records and reports.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check finished goods entering department for completeness of order, defective parts, and process according to established practice.
- Select completed shipments and prepare all necessary shipping and related papers and documents; weigh and calculate shipping charges.
- Extend packing slip and enclose with other designated papers and documents, and perform other duties related detail in established form. Method and routing of shipments, documental and other enclosures generally prescribed; consult supervisor on unusual shipments. Maintain inventory control files.
- Notify assigned carriers of pick-up instructions following established practice. Trace shipments for customers. Work with customer resident engineers in preparation and shipment of their orders.
- Receive incoming materials, supplies, parts, and other items following established practice. Assist in unloading materials and supplies as necessary. Count, weigh, or otherwise check incoming items to assure correctness of shipment and compliance with accompanying traveling documents, purchase and shipping orders. Transport, or request transportation of shipments to designated departments, storage, or other areas. Prepare receiving reports and other related documents in established form and detail. Notify supervisor of shortages, damages, or other discrepancies, and prepare all necessary substantiating reports.
- Maintain inventories of dock milestone buckets i.e. source, too early, scrap-missing, sick bay, finished goods etc.
- Detect and report faulty documentation and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Thorough understanding of HAZCOM labeling and documentation required to ship and receive hazardous materials. Ability to read and understand a variety of Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Audits records and record keeping practices.
- May pick up and/or deliver products, material, parts or mail.
- Makes cost analysis, based upon results may choose one means of transport as opposed to another.
- Responsible for maintaining necessary inventory of packing materials, boxes, etc.
- Perform a variety of other tasks and duties of equal or less complexity as assigned by supervisor.
- Delivery and pickup using Company leased commercial vehicle requires passing leasing company physical examinations which includes negative test results for illegal substances.
- Will be expected to work overtime as needed at the end of every fiscal month.
Special Skills and Physical Requirements:
- Prepare shipping and related documents, maintain records and files, determine postage and shipping charges, pack materials. Requires the use of some judgment to comply with established routines, and or specific instructions, prepare records and reports, and perform associated duties effectively. Receives incoming goods and maintains corresponding records and prepares related reports.
- Physical effort in handling materials and cartons. Requires the ability to lift and move 35lbs throughout the 8 hour shift.
- Continuous metal or visual attention in preparation of forms and documents, maintenance of records, packing and handling parts, determination of shipping charges.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Working knowledge of the investment casting process and visual/dimensional inspection criteria is preferred.
- Familiarity with export compliance and ITAR regulations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty five pounds.
- Able to use Microsoft Office applications and have previous computer experience.
